I had the pleasure of doing a newborn session for the Streelman family recently.  I can tell you there is no better way to get excited for your own baby’s arrival than to get to photograph a new perfect little baby like Rhett.  Not only was it so fun to go meet him and see my friends now grown into an adorable family of four, but to get to spend all the time editing the photos after got me super excited for our own baby’s arrival.

Staring and zooming in at those little new baby intricacies that go to the back of your brain as your babies grow older, was a great reminder of all of the adorableness that is about to come for us in June.   The little wrist wrinkles, chubby baby feet, and the tiny fingers that clasp anything that gets in their grip.  The way that his big sister Sophie looks at him with wonder, and now how all of a sudden she looks so big in comparison.  Best of all, how seamlessly Courtney and Kevin seemed to have evolved into parents of two kids just like that, and how Rhett just fits right into the family perfectly like he’s always been there.

Of course all of that meant that I ended up with way more photos than I needed.  Here are my many favorites.

I walk away from pretty much every newborn session with a touch of baby fever.  However, I must say that adorable little August laid it on me thick!!  But for once baby fever is totally ok and welcome!  Thanks August!

This sweet boy was born in December on his due date (how is that for starting out life punctual?).  He also seems to have inherited his mom’s skills in front of the camera.  He was AWESOME during his session!  Mommy told him to smile, and then he would smile.  Mommy told him to sleep, then he would sleep.  Then Mommy told him to make us some coffee and he pulled out the french press and made us coffee.  (Ok maybe I’m stretching the truth a little but he might as well have because he was so helpful).

I loved this session so much.  My favorite photos are always the ones showing the closeness between mama and baby and you can definitely see this family feeling the love.  New love…what a beautiful thing.

Oh hi there.  Remember me?  It has been quite a while since I’ve been out from under my rock.  I know everyone loves an excuse, but I have a really good one I promise!

See…as it turns out, growing tiny humans is hard work.  Especially when you’ve got two other small humans to feed, clean, entertain, and homeschool.  Yep, you read that right.  For those of you who don’t know yet, I’m excited to announce the Jeras Family will have another little munchkin, arriving in early June!

What does that mean for my sessions this year?  Well, baby decided to arrive at just the right time, right in the middle of the summer when no one wants to go outside and have their photo taken anyways (high five baby!).  I will be limiting my sessions a little bit before baby’s arrival, my last session most likely being in April.  As far as the fall sessions, we will have to cross that bridge when we come to it to determine how much I’ll take on for the rest of the year after baby is here.

Now that I’m feeling great and out of the hibernation stage, I can’t wait to share some of my favorite photos from the fall until now that were just too much effort to blog and share a couple of months ago.

…But for now I’ll just share baby’s first portrait.

What’s more fun than photographing a brand new tiny human?  Doing so while in the company of your friends and giggling for hours over utter silliness.  Needless to say, I had SO MUCH FUN photographing Carter.  He is such a content and totally perfect baby, and has a family that is completely head over heals in love with him.  It made my heart go pitter patter just watching the way Sabrina looks at him.  Ahh…new love.

On a side note, I also must mention that they get major bonus points for feeding me and letting me use Aunt Michelle as my wonderful assistant.  Oh yeah baby!

Here are a few of my favorites.
