Here’s my first catch up blog post.  More to come!

My friends Jessica and Mikey, and their cute munchkin Eva came in town from California for Halloween (yes it has been that long since I’ve blogged a session) and we took family photos of the whole extended family while they were in town.

Jessica felt the need to warn me more than once that photographing her family would be like “photographing a bunch of monkeys,” and that I had my work cut out for me that day.  Luckily, I didn’t really believe her, and I’m happy to say that she was wrong.  This gang was so much fun and a total breeze to photograph.

There were loads of combinations of family members here, but here is tiny sample of my favorites from their session.

Oh hi there.  Remember me?  It has been quite a while since I’ve been out from under my rock.  I know everyone loves an excuse, but I have a really good one I promise!

See…as it turns out, growing tiny humans is hard work.  Especially when you’ve got two other small humans to feed, clean, entertain, and homeschool.  Yep, you read that right.  For those of you who don’t know yet, I’m excited to announce the Jeras Family will have another little munchkin, arriving in early June!

What does that mean for my sessions this year?  Well, baby decided to arrive at just the right time, right in the middle of the summer when no one wants to go outside and have their photo taken anyways (high five baby!).  I will be limiting my sessions a little bit before baby’s arrival, my last session most likely being in April.  As far as the fall sessions, we will have to cross that bridge when we come to it to determine how much I’ll take on for the rest of the year after baby is here.

Now that I’m feeling great and out of the hibernation stage, I can’t wait to share some of my favorite photos from the fall until now that were just too much effort to blog and share a couple of months ago.

…But for now I’ll just share baby’s first portrait.

I’ve been taking photos for this crew since before I really got serious about photography.  They are good friends so I see them a lot, but it has been fun watching them grow in each set of photos.  At the same time, it is neat to look back and see how far my work has come since those early sessions when I would exchange photos for one of Tom’s delicious dinners.  Yum!

As usual, I had a great time with them.  Its easy to take photos when the family is so cute.

One thing that makes my heart sing when photographing families, is shooting in a meaningful location.  This location is a special one, not to mention gorgeous, so I jumped at the chance to do photos here.

Julie’s grandmother has owned this cabin in Kohls Ranch since the 80’s and Julie has been enjoying going up there with her family since she was a kid.  Now she is taking HER kids up there to enjoy splashing in the same cool waters of Tonto Creek that are right out the back door.  How cool is that?

My kids and I have been lucky enough to be invited up there with them a handful of times, and when they asked if our whole family wanted to join them for a weekend getaway this fall, I immediately said “Yes, and let’s do your photos there!”

We had a really great weekend, and taking photos of one of my favorite families was just icing on the cake.

I recently got to meet up with one of my old college swimming buddies and her hubby for a maternity shoot.  It was so fun to see a friend I haven’t seen in a while, but to see her absolutely stunning with an adorable baby bump, was just a super sweet icing on the cake.

When we started shooting, Sally told me she is one of those people who never looks good in photos.  (I know, insert eye roll here).  Sorry friend, no one believes you!  Obviously, she looked gorgeous in pretty much every shot I took, and was a star in front of the camera.

We had a really fun time catching up, and taking photos.  Although I adore photographing children, this was a fun change of pace working with adults.  Change of pace meaning we got done really quickly because no one was engaging in any shenanigans…well mostly anyways.  😛

Here are some of my favorites of Sally and Vince.  I can’t wait to meet their baby boy come December!!
